2009 Coming to a close!

Tomorrow my little angle will be six months old! SIX MONTHS?! Wow, when she was born I thought that was such a long time away and it's here. Before I know it I'll be planning her first birthday.

The holidays for my family have been bitter sweet. I'm so glad to have my family, they are they very foundation for who I am. Besides the birth of Ariel and a few other events, 2009 has been a pretty crappy year. Several of my family members have fallen ill, thankfully to recover, however we are still waiting on Aunt Mary to come home. We missed her greatly at Christmas and we will miss her dearly this evening as well. We just want her well.

Anyway, Christmas was fun! Ariel fell asleep during the Christmas Eve gift exchange but woke up shortly after. I think she just secretly wanted all the attention on her (like she doesn't always have it). Christmas morning we went to my sisters and did our morning "santa" gifts and then had Christmas dinner (which was more like a lunch). The following day we had Christmas with just myself, Steve, and Ariel (since he had to work on Christmas). We are truly blessed.
Ariel has gotten both of her bottom teeth in! First the right one came in and then it seemed like the next day the left one came through. Right in time for Christmas!

I'm so excited to bring in the new year. I'm hoping 2010 brings health and happiness to everyone.

First Trip to Disney

Ariel's First Trip to Disney

We met up with my wonderful friend Elizabeth and her beautiful daughter Scarlett, who is 6 weeks younger than Ariel. We had such an amazing time. Took lots of pictures, the girls rode "It's A Small World" twice (Scarlett was asleep the first time), Winnie The Pooh, and Snow White. They were so tuckered out from the day, even though it was only a few hours. These are the moments I love!

Holidays are coming!

Well, Thanksgiving is coming up on Thursday and then Christmas will be here before we know it! I can't believe how fast the year has gone by! My little munchkin is growing up so fast.

Anyway, so Halloween was fun. Ariel got dressed up and looked as adorable as ever in her little Dorothy costume.

She turned 4 months on November 1st! I took her for her second round of shots. She did a lot better this time, it was still painful. She weighted in at 14.6 pounds. My little chunky monkey!
I'll post again after Thanksgiving! Lots of love!

Another month goes by

Well, tomorrow is Ariel's first Halloween. She is going to be dressed up at Dorothy! I can't wait. She will be adorable (of course).

Since I last blogged, she has gotten so big. She is talking all of the time. Just a few nights ago we watched her roll from back to belly. She had a bit of a hard time but she did it. She's been rolling over from belly to back for a while now.

I'm pretty sure she's teething now. I think I said that before but this time I really think she is, ha ha. SHe really likes to have her gums rubbed and she loves chewing on anything she can put in her mouth!

I can't wait for the rest of the holidays! It's gonna be so exciting to celebrate them all with her. Well actually, I can wait cause that'll mean that she's getting older. The time is going by so fast!

Ears Pierced!

Well, last weekend we took Ariel to get her ears pierced. Daddy wasn't too thrilled with the idea but I got him to come around to my way of thinking :).

Me, Grandma, Aunt Cathy, Aunt Mary, and Manda went to the mall. I picked out some cute little heart shape earrings with a pink cubic zirconia in the middle. Cathy and Manda kept trying to get me to pick ruby earrings because it is the July birthstone. I think it was more because July is also when their birthdays are as well.

Anyway, so I let Cathy be the one to hold Ariel. I wanted her to be the "bad guy". That way as soon as it was over, she could hand her to me. I wanted to be the one to soothe her. Plus I didn't think I'd be able to hold her down.

First the left ear, and then the right. She cried for a little bit but she was perfectly fine before we ever even left the mall. She has some cute little earrings now. She hasn't attempted to mess with them and they never even seem to bother her!

2 Month Shots

So this past Tuesday I took Ariel in for her two month check up. I knew she would have to get shots but what I didn't know was that there were THREE of them! That's just not cool! She was being so good that morning, just cooing away in her crib, watching her mobile go round and round. Then I had to take her to those mean people. She screamed, had little tears streaming, and just whimpered. I felt so bad for her. She passed out on the way to my sisters. I think I'm more traumatized by it than she was!

Oh and she weighs 10lbs 6oz now! She's getting so big!!!

Teething

She's only two months old (two months tomorrow anyway) and she's teething. She's been so fussy lately, chewing on her hands, and drooling. I was pretty sure she was teething but still had my doubts. Well, over the weekend, as she was screaming you could see two little white spots on her lower gums! No doubt about it, she's teething. Talking about growing up too fast!!!

I took her to get her pictures taken yesterday. She didn't really smile too much but we got some cute ones. I'm trying to get a picture taken every month. Next month I think we're gonna do some family photos.

Bad Blogger

Well, apparently I'm not a very good blogger. My last post was at 30 weeks and Ariel is 8 weeks now. My bad!

So, I went in for my induction on June 30th. I labored all day and night, started pushing in the morning of July 1st. Ariel's heart rate starting rising and falling so the Dr. wanted to get her out. Ariel arrived at 10:21am! She weighed in at 6 pounds and 11 ounces, she was 19 inches. She left the hospital on July 4th. What a day to celebrate, there was a party already going on at Uncle Jimmy's and that's where we went, straight to the party.

I had a hard time recovering from the surgery. I personally think they took out my staples way too soon. They removed them the day I left the hospital, three days after surgery! Tell me that's not insane? So, what ended up happening? The incision didn't heal on the ends correctly and I had open wounds that needed to be packed with gauze for like four weeks until it healed. Yeah, that was not fun.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. Ariel is growing bigger everyday. SHe is so adorable. She is cooing (I call it talking) a lot. She is so alert. But she's been like that since day one. She is strong too. She started trying to hold her head up (and doing a pretty good job of it too I must say) while she was still in the hospital. She has her two month check up next week. At last visit she was 7lbs 15oz and 21". I bet she's around 9lbs now. I don't think she's quite 10 yet, but who knows.

Today I returned back to work. It's the first time I've spent this much time away from her. I'm ok. I just keep thinking about as she gets bigger and the weeks pass, what am I going to miss? Will she say her first words with someone else, or take her first steps while I'm not home. BOO! I don't like thinking about that.

30 Week Visit

Today I had my 30 week visit at the OB. My 1 hour glucose test came back fine, my iron level is a little low, not too bad though. I have to take an additional iron supplement. Ariel's heart rate was around 145 which is good. I have another ultrasound next week. I love seeing how big she is getting.

I have to say, I'm getting sick and tired of hearing people tell me their "opinions" on how they think I should live my life or how to take care of my child. A little advice is good but when you start turning your nose down on me because you don't like the way I live. Just shut up...that's the nicest thing you can do.

Ultrasound at 26 weeks, 5 days

I had an ultrasound done yesterday. Ariel didn't want her pictures taken apparently. She was butt down with her face towards my back. She wasn't budging either. So, we didn't get really good any great pictures. But she wasn't sucking her thumb either! YAY. She is measuring right on track, heart rate was 150 bpm, and weighing in at 2lbs 2oz! Back in 4 weeks for another one!

26 weeks, 5 days.

Well, at my last OB appointment everything went fine. Ariel's heart rate was at 145 bpm. Dr. Hoover said that my belly is measuring a lot bigger than where I'm at right now, I'm at 31. I guess she is having a little growth spurt. I have another ultrasound today so we'll see just how big she actually is.

I tell ya what, she's been kicking A LOT lately. I think with her little growth spurt she's running out of room in there and I'm feeling things way more than I used too. I actually saw my belly "roll" a little bit the other night. It was pretty cool. I'm used to seeing it move when she kicks but this was from the belly button and rolled to the left.

My belly is itching too! I'm trying not to scratch cause I know that makes the stretch marks worse but oh my gosh, how I just want a good scratch!

I'll update again after the ultrasound today.

And....I'm blogging!

So this is my first attempt at keeping up a blog. I'm not sure how much of a success this will be but I figured, I'd give it a try.

So, as everyone knows, I'm pregnant. Steve and I are expecting the arrival of Ariel Melody on/or around July 8th, that's our due date. She'll actually arrive earlier (most likely) since I know I'm going to be induced (thank you Lovenox).

I am almost 25 weeks today (24 weeks and 5 days). So far Ariel has been kicking away. Usually when it's time to eat or when I'm laying down. She can really get going. The last week or so I've been able to see my belly jump when she kicks. It's pretty cool.

So far, we've gotten SEVERAL ultrasounds (I've lost count). We're going to have a baby book full of ultrasound photos. The last two, she's been doing what looks like sucking her thumb! Oh lordy! I have been so adamant about not letting this baby have a pacifier for too long but I realize it's a lot easier to get rid of a paci than it is a thumb. Let's hope she grows out of this habit by the time she arrives to the outside world!

Well, lots to talk about but I don't want to "blog" about everything in one entry so I'll update next week after my next OB appointment. I think that's when I have to go back and do the glucose test. Blegh.

Ta Ta for now!
